The Excursion to The Japanese Cultural Centre

In January, all the year 4 students visited the Japanese Cultural Centre. Hiromi was our guide. Her presentation was very interesting. We liked it a lot.

We located Japan on a map and Hiromi told us about the seasons, Japanese houses and Japanese schools. We learnt Japanese words like: Hello – konnichiwa, good bye – sayonara…

The most interesting thing for us was the traditional Japanese houses. Japanese people take off their shoes in their houses because the floor is made of tatami, a plant.

The schools are also very different because the children go to school in groups without their parents. They also clean the classrooms and eat there.

Later, we played the game that Japanese people play at New Year. This game´s name is “the lucky laugh”.

There will be special activities at the centre in March. We recommend it. We had a lot of fun there.
